Outer Banks Distilling

Outer Banks Distilling has been making rum in Manteo, North Carolina since 2015. These are the rums they’re currently producing:

  • Kill Devil Silver Rum, a pot-distilled, molasses-based rum that’s bottled unaged at 80 proof.

  • Kill Devil Pecan Rum, a version of the base used in their Silver Rum that’s infused with pecans in a stainless steel tank for over a week. Honey is also added before it’s bottled at 80 proof.

  • Kill Devil Gold Rum, an aged version of the base used in their Silver Rum that’s aged 18 months in used bourbon barrels.

  • Kill Devil Blackbeard’s Reserve Rum, a pot-distilled, Caribbean molasses-based rum that’s aged two years in white oak barrels.

  • Kill Devil Angels’ Share Rum, a limited yearly bottling of pot-distilled, red ribbon cane molasses-based rum that’s aged for an unspecified amount of time. All proceeds are donated to causes supporting the local Outer Banks community.

  • Kill Devil Rum Shipwreck Series, a limited edition small batch series that’s had the following releases (all named after Outer Banks shipwrecks):

    • The Harvest (2018), a version of their Kill Devil Pecan Rum aged in users bourbon barrels.

    • The Huron (2018), a pot-distilled, molasses- and muscovado sugar-based rum aged in used bourbon barrels.

    • The Monitor (2017), a pot-distilled, Caribbean molasses- and evaporated cane syrup-based rum aged in used bourbon barrels.

    • The Irma (2016), a pot-distilled, molasses- and demerara sugar-based rum aged in used bourbon and rye barrels and then blended together before bottling.

  • Kill Devil Rum Solspice Series, a limited biannual batch released on the solstices:

    • Kill Devil Winter Solspice, a barrel-aged rum that’s spiced with a variety of seasonal winter ingredients that change every year.

    • Kill Devil Summer Solspice, a barrel-aged rum that’s spiced with a variety of seasonal summer ingredients that change every year.
